The Big Picture – Monster Doodle at Gaelscoil Mhainistir Na Corann in Cork

I joined Laureate na nÓg, PJ Lynch, and artists: Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick, Chris Judge and Lauren O’Neill for “The Big Picture” project at Gaelscoil Mhainistir Na Corann in Cork over the weekend.

On the first day we were joined by 500 pupils in a Monster Doodle.

Delighted to take part in such an amazing project!

Over the weekend we transformed the walls of the school with unique murals (photographs in next post), each of us creating our own big big picture. The murals were revealed to the pupils of the school the following Monday.

They make quite a statement, and I’m sure will go on to add to the students’ and teachers’ enjoyment of school life.

Bold Girls – Children’s Books Ireland

Bold Girls - CBI

BOLD GIRLS aims is to break down societal barriers and to instil confidence in girls and young women by showing them female characters in children’s books with agency, power and opinions, addressing at a young age some of the issues that stand in the way of women achieving their ambitions, whether that be in leadership, in government, in the arts.

BOLD GIRLS will highlight and review books that feature strong, intelligent, self-possessed female protagonists in children’s books, as well as celebrating twenty female Irish authors and illustrators, both emerging and established, who have made an exceptional contribution to the canon of Irish children’s literature.
